Among the many temples in Kyoto, my favorite is Ginkakuji (銀閣寺, the Silver Pavilion).
Miraculously survived all through the inferno of Onin War (応仁の乱), its historical value is immeasurable. The temple is not gorgeous as much as Kinkakuji (金閣寺, the Golden Pavilion), but still it conveys the true spirit of Japan.
Constructed by the 8th Shogun (将軍) of the Muromachi (室町) Shogunate, its elegance is recognized as the supremacy of Japanese beauty by many Japanese people. Simplicity, that’s the key. Please visit there in our retro-inspired Kimono (着物).
