A popular event that allows you to experience Nijo Castle at night using all five senses will be held, featuring a fusion of digital art, music, fragrance, and food, all while enjoying an autumn festival.

Attend the event in a kimono

This event is filled with plenty of photo spots! Since the theme is a magical night viewing experience, attending in a kimono is the perfect choice. ☺ If you’re worried about the kimono return time for a night event, Yumekan offers next-day return and delivery options for kimonos. (If returning on the same day, please return by 5:30 PM.)

While the usual kimono rental return time is by 5:30 PM on the same day, if you make your store reservation after 12 PM, you can return the kimono the next day for free (between 9 AM and 5 PM). Additionally, delivery returns from hotels or convenience stores are available for 880 yen.

Experience the Autumn of Kyoto with Your Five Senses

Upon entering the grounds of Nijo Castle, enjoy the illumination that highlights the grand architectural beauty of the Karamon Gate, a historic building representative of Kyoto. Experience the solemn atmosphere of Nijo Castle, which can only be appreciated at night. Various animal sculptures welcome visitors with a different expression than during the day. Additionally, sake will be offered to attendees, who can toast together to celebrate the autumn harvest.

The autumn leaves of Seiryu-en are illuminated to brilliantly stand out, enveloped in the colors of autumn along with fragrance and sound. In the Kouun-tei, which is also dyed in autumn hues and adorned with elegant sounds, a tranquil garden landscape unfolds.

Enjoy a two-minute projection mapping show titled “Harvest Festival,” which spreads across approximately 75 meters of stone walls. The wall paintings by the Kano school, the largest school of Japanese painting, are also featured within the Ninomaru Palace, providing a luxurious and splendid mapping show unique to the castle. Food stalls will also be set up, allowing visitors to taste rice made from the harvested grains.

After enjoying the illumination, in a fantastical space themed around a bountiful harvest, experience the projection mapping that spreads across the castle walls and a large glowing moon surrounded by shining rice stalks, where you can enjoy seasonal delights of autumn.

A special stall has been set up, interpreting the banquet historically served to the Emperor during the “Nijo Castle Imperial Visit.” This is an area where you can enjoy interactive art and food experiences against the special backdrop of Nijo Castle.
