【Special Event】 First time KABUKI at Kyoto Station
Do you know about 【KABUKI】?
Do you ever want to watch the show but dont’t know how to begin?
The “FIRST-TIME KABUKI” is a great opportunity for foreign tourists to start from.
In this show, the Kabuki actors present highlights of popular plays and provide explanations which make the 【KABUKI】 become more beginner-friendly way.
【KABUKI】 is a classical form of Japanese Theatre that mixes with dramatic performance and traditional dance. Even for the Japanese, who was born and raised in Japan, still feels quite formal and isn’t something easy to have the opportunity to experience.
So, this is a great chance!
The show begin with the distinctive makeup characteristics for each role, the reason male actors play female roles, and the origins of Kabuki. This immerse you in an hour-long experience filled with fascinating explanations.
Since the performance is aimed for foreign tourists visiting Japan, there provide free rental audio guide available in English, Korean, and Chinese. It allows guests who find Japanese challenging to enjoy the performance.
FIRST-TIME KABUKI
A battle between Benkei (弁慶) & Ushiwakamaru (牛若丸) at Gojo Bridge (五条大橋) will be play in the show, which is located near by to Yumeyakata Gojo Shop.
So, you can visit this bridge after the show, and you might experience something special from a different perspective♪
You can also take photos with the Kabuki actors after the show♪

Although this show is not as formal as a full version of 【KABUKI】, you may still want to dress a little more formally to enjoy it. In this case, we recommend renting a kimono from our Yumeyakata Gojo Shop.

A wide variety of kimonos is available, including classical, cute, and elegant floral patterns, as well as lace kimonos, allowing you to freely pair them with your favorite obi belt.

Basically hanhaba-obi belt with ribbon at the back, or +1100yen change to Otaiko-Obi Belt.
Additional Essential Accessories
Tabi (Japanese socks), Zori (Japanese sandals), a small Japanese-style pouch, and all necessary underslips are included.

There are about 30 pieces of kimonos, allowing you to freely pair them with your favorite obi belt.

Access form Yumeyakata:
Yumeyakata Gojo Shop → Gojo Subway Station → Kyoto Station → 2-minute walk from the central ticket gate of the conventional lines (about 10 minutes)
Inside the building, there are a few restaurants where you can easily enjoy a meal after the performance.
Especially, with daytime shows on the weekends, you can enjoy a great lunch before the show♪
